The GST Et-Gun Ethanol HVOF Spray Gun is a high-pressure liquid-fuel High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF-LF) torch engineered for industrial deposition of dense carbide, cermet, metal and alloy coatings. The gun uses ethanol and oxygen to generate a high-energy combustion jet and is designed for applications requiring high particle velocity, low coating porosity and repeatable coating performance.
Ethanol and oxygen are injected, mixed and atomized in a pre-combustion stage before entering the main combustion chamber. The optimized multi-stage combustion architecture supports chamber pressures up to 13 bar (188 psi). After combustion, the gas stream is accelerated through the nozzle to form a supersonic jet. Powder is injected radially near the end of the combustion chamber / interconnector region, where it is mixed, heated and accelerated toward the substrate.
Compared with conventional kerosene HVOF technology, ethanol operation provides a wider process window and can reduce oxygen consumption by approximately 30-50% while reducing required cooling power by up to approximately 50%, depending on the coating recipe and system configuration. Ethanol also enables stable operation under neutral, oxygen-rich and fuel-rich conditions without soot formation, helping reduce the risk of carbon contamination.
The GST Et-Gun is suitable for integration with stationary or mobile HVOF-LF systems, industrial robots, gun manipulators and complete coating cells. Final process limits, hardware configuration and utilities are selected according to the coating material, powder size distribution, production rate and required coating properties.

FAQ
What is the GST Et-Gun HVOF Spray Gun used for?
The Et-Gun is used for high-performance HVOF deposition of carbide, cermet, metal and alloy coatings where high coating density, wear resistance, erosion resistance or corrosion protection is required.
Which fuel does the GST Et-Gun use?
The GST Et-Gun is a liquid-fuel HVOF torch designed to operate with ethanol and oxygen.
What combustion pressure does the Et-Gun operate at?
The gun is designed for combustion chamber pressures up to 13 bar (188 psi). Actual production pressure depends on the qualified coating recipe.
What spray deposition rate does the Et-Gun support?
The published GST system specification lists a spray deposition rate of 60-170 g/min. Actual throughput depends on powder density, particle-size distribution and process parameters.
What cooling water does the Et-Gun require?
The GST configuration specifies approximately 28-35 l/min cooling-water flow, 10 bar minimum / 15 bar recommended pressure, and an inlet temperature of 10-21 °C.
How much oxygen and ethanol are required?
The GST system configuration provides for oxygen flow up to 700 Nl/min and ethanol consumption up to 40 l/h. Actual consumption is recipe dependent and can be substantially lower for individual coating parameters.
Why use ethanol instead of kerosene for HVOF?
Ethanol provides a wide operating window, cleaner soot-free combustion and, under comparable reference conditions, can reduce oxygen consumption by approximately 30-50% and cooling-power requirements by up to approximately 50% compared with conventional kerosene HVOF.
Can the GST Et-Gun be integrated into automated coating systems?
Yes. The Et-Gun is suitable for integration with stationary or mobile GST HVOF-LF systems, industrial robots, manipulators and complete coating cells. The final mounting and process interfaces are confirmed for each project.
