Process Features
Shot peening is a surface treatment process that improves the mechanical properties of a workpiece by bombarding its surface with high-velocity media particles made of steel, ceramic, or glass. The shot is accelerated by a controlled stream of compressed air and directed onto the workpiece surface, creating a series of overlapping micro-indentations.

The surrounding material resists plastic deformation, resulting in the formation of beneficial compressive residual stresses within the treated surface layer. Through uniform processing, shot peening introduces a consistent compressive stress profile across the entire surface, significantly enhancing material hardness, fatigue strength, and resistance to crack initiation and corrosion.
